PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Applicants seeking assistance must fully complete and submit the application to Reposition Development.  All applications will be reviewed and verified by the CEO and/or Executive Director. We will also determine the readiness for change, interests, and eligibility of the applicant. Upon acceptance into the program, applicants will receive assistance with their work schedules and with determining their means of transportation to and from work. In addition, Reposition Development. will offer our participants skills development workshops, group and individual counseling, assistance with goal setting, mentoring and coaching, promote high ethical and education standards, job development skills, GED preparation, and teach them how to be leaders in the family, communities, and churches etc.

Our ultimate goal is to reduce the recidivism rate of offenders and to aid in the restoration of their lives through the infusion of intellectual, emotional and spiritual influence. This is directed to help them discard harmful patterns and unhealthy attitudes, avoid addictive and destructive relationships and behavior, stay out of prison, and become positive contributors to society. We will also bring awareness to the local Church about our nation's fastest growing population and their role in reaching those impacted by incarceration. Reposition Development focuses on equipping offenders with practical opportunities for reentering into society. We have support group meetings which afford men and women offenders a place to restructure their identity, an atmosphere of acceptance and an opportunity to share time with those who understand, care and provide role modeling. Family support groups are open to all individuals who have family members or strong relationships with someone incarcerated.

This is truly the day for the church to step beyond its boundaries and offer not only hope through the Gospel, but some practical assistance to a word disabled by dysfunction. Locked beneath the trappings of addiction, prostitution, crime, and homelessness, lie silent treasures waiting to be released. We must, as the Body of Christ, rise out of our comfortable setting and rescue these hidden deposits of greatness. Along with the mending power of the Gospel, we must point these lives in the direction of their destiny. As a result, they can return to their families as role models, to the church as a gift to the Body of Christ, and to the community as evidence of the love, power, and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Upon departure from Reposition Development the participant will receive a comprehensive discharge plan that identifies personal, career, and economic needs and community resources to assist them. Post-release services are also provided.

*Placement of residents for work release is determined by statutory and regulatory criteria. Recommendations are submitted by classification officers, case managers, and the Parole Board. Reposition Development does not solicit resident placement. Specific questions concerning eligibility should be addressed to the inmate's Classification/Parole/Probation Officer.

WHAT IS REENTRY? is Reentry?

Reentry involves the use of programs targeted at promoting the effective reintegration of offenders back to communities upon release from prison and jail. Reentry programming, which often involves a comprehensive case management approach, is intended to assist offenders in acquiring the life skills needed to succeed in the community and become law-abiding citizens. A variety of programs are used to assist offenders in the reentry process, including prerelease programs, drug rehabilitation and vocational training, and work programs.

The Prisoner Reentry Initiative is supported by the U. S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs and its federal partners. It is also supported by the U. S. Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, and Labor. This initiative is a comprehensive effort that addresses both juvenile and adult populations of serious, high-risk offenders. It provides funding to develop, implement, enhance, and evaluate reentry strategies that will ensure the safety of the community and the reduction of serious, violent crime. This is accomplished by preparing targeted offenders to successfully return to their communities after having served a significant period of secure confinement in a state training school, juvenile or adult correctional facility, or other secure institution.
